The Final Rose Ceremony

...and the recipient is.....Sean Russell.....of the Senior Class of North Medford High School. The final Russell sibling to graduate from high school. The caboose, but not the last man standing. Sean has proven he can keep up with any of his siblings athletically, academically, and in stature. He is such a joy in our lives, and made it through the last 8 months alone without his brother, surviving mom and dad...as the last child at home syndrome kicked in.

After recent weeks of Luncheons, Honors Award ceremonies, and the Pomp and Circumstance... our 14 1/2 years of High School came to an end. Sean finally graduated from High School. The gym decorated in world tour
motifs as Red and Black accented the decor. On the back wall hung pictures of the Valedictorians of the Class of 2009 of which we are proud to say hung Sean's photo. An experience for once in a lifetime. Sean is such a delight. He has a personality larger than life, a heart just as big, hugs that smother you, a handshake that shows strength, a smile that melts you...what do I think of Sean....priceless....

It was a wonderful evening. Talk of class accomplishments, personal achievements, camaraderie, and friendship. I was impressed with the speakers and graduates. As the band played the Star Spangled Banner the graduates stood with hands on their hearts an impressive site! A culmination of 23 years of Back to School nights, Science Fairs, Senior Projects, Soccer games, Choir concerts, Jazz band concerts and performances, community events, and years of tutored homework, late night runs to the store for forgotten project items, early morning Seminary in the snow, release time seminary with brute ball and much much more...what a ride it's been.

Many life building and changing events to conclude an era in tonight's event. I have tried to enjoy each moment of this experience...hard or not. To my children, of whom have been my world for 28 years, I say thanks for the ride, and I hope you have learned great lessons as we have walked this path together. I love you all.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
